It offers us a sensory experience that evokes the aromas, nuances and origin of this Gran Reserva solera brandy. Felipao’s creation was inspired by his visit to the Osborne cellars in El Puerto de Santa María. Gardens blooming with bougainvillea, the bright green of the vineyards, the blue of the sea and the orange sunsets come together in a palette of vibrant colours, full of history; a fitting presentation for this velvety-textured creation with great aromatic intensity.

To celebrate this project, we have extended our cocktail list, developing four exquisite drinks with the help of the artist Felipao. With the same aim of bringing brandy to a wider and more diverse audience, we’ve prepared this selection featuring some simpler mixed drinks that you can prepare at home.

Menina X Felipao

Cocktails

Bougainvillea Bliss

Ingredients

  • 30 ml Brandy Carlos I
  • 120 ml Blue butterfly pea flower tea
  • 30 ml Lemon juice
  • 25 ml Lemongrass syrup

Elaboration

Make the tea and leave to cool. Once cool, fill a cocktail shaker with ice and add all the ingredients except the lemon juice, which should be left until serving, to create an element of surprise with the change of colour that occurs. This cocktail shows Carlos I in a more unusual way, a lemon-based drink that adds an infusion of sweet and oaky touches, with slight hints of red fruit, to a citrus base.

Garnish:

Skeleton flowers and leaves.

Cocktails

Solera Sunrise

Ingredients

  • 50 ml Brandy Carlos I
  • 50 ml Pineapple juice
  • 30 ml Lemon juice
  • 25 ml White peach puree
  • 25 ml Grenadine

Elaboration

Put some ice in a glass, add the ingredients in order to create the visual effect of a sunrise, adding the grenadine last of all so that the colour trickles through to create a silhouette, and decorate with an orange segment. A cocktail with a balanced citric and fruity flavour, an elegant way to serve brandy with its raisined and earthy notes.

Garnish:

An orange segment.

Puerto Breeze

Ingredients

  • 45 ml Brandy Carlos I
  • 25 ml Mango juice
  • 20 ml Lime juice
  • 15 ml Grapefruit juice
  • 10 ml Blossom honey
  • 3 drops of Orange flower water
  • Top with soda water

Elaboration

Half fill the glass with ice, add all the ingredients and stir with a spoon. Then fill to the brim with ice, top with soda and decorate with a lime segment. A combination of citrus and bitter notes that interact with the fruity notes of the mango and highlight its sweetness. A touch of honey and orange flower water subtly awaken its freshness and intensify the floral notes.

Garnish:

A lime segment.

Cocktails

Bodega Summer Vibes

Ingredients

  • 50 ml Carlos I Brandy
  • 25 ml Passion fruit juice
  • Half a lime
  • 30 ml Sugar syrup
  • 3 Strawberries
  • 8 Mint leaves
  • Top with soda/Ginger Ale

Elaboration

Add the half a lime and three strawberries to a glass and crush with a mortar, then do the same with the mint. Add the rest of the ingredients except the soda. Fill with ice and stir to mix well together. Top up with more ice if necessary and fill to the brim with the soda. Decorate with mint and a fanned strawberry. A slightly sour cocktail with notes of natural fruit that are very well integrated with the earthy and nutty notes of the brandy, resulting in a well-rounded cocktail.

Garnish:

Mint and a fanned strawberry.
